Db Major 7#9#11 Pentatonic
Db . . E F . G . . . . C
R . . b3 3 . b5 . . . . 7

Played from its root, the primary implication of this
note grouping creates an interesting, colorful and potentially dissonant chord / harmonic effect. If you seea CMaj triad over a Db root (C/Db) stated on a chart or purely seek this type of sonority within your music, try these notes.

Played independently of other notes or harmonies, this musical scale's note grouping and interval relationships are quite "restless" and resolves most comfortably to the C Major triad. Check it out...

By thinking modally when space and taste allow some
creativity, some useful harmonic applications for this scale could
involve forming the C Major triad or inversions over both the Db or F root notes.

The challenge is to control the inherent tension of this chord / scale and harness its beauty. Choose pleasing inversions and use good voice leading throughout your harmonic motion.

Melodically this scale is challenging as well! The large intervals Major and Minor 3rds, Fourths and Tritones lend themselves to creative and exotic melodies with an "open" sound. You have Minor 2nd intervals between the C-Db and F-E to provide tension and "gravity" in melodic lines using this scale. Exploration is worthwhile and rewarding!

All of this said however, rarely does this chord or the notes of this musical scale exist solely within a composition. Generally this chord would function musically as a dominant harmony: one that provides tension towards some eventual resolution to be most likely and ultimately provided by a Major or Minor chord of some sort.
